vMigrator is designed to address the challenges of porting your VM infrastructure to the new VI3 platform. vMigrator is a GUI-driven management tool that is easy to use with minimal training. The tool eliminates scripting and the need for manual processes. 
Boosts Data Transfer Speeds
vMigrator can copy data at a rate of 20-23 MB/sec. These speeds cannot be achieved using standard VMware tools for cross-volume data transfers.
Maintains Data and Structural Integrity and Ensures Compliancy
vMigrator ensures that regardless of hardware and formatting, it will migrate the VMDK2 format file into VMDK3 format. vMigrator is 100 percent compatible and compliant with VMware’s recommendation in managing ESX Server 3 VM creations. vMigrator complies with all specifications for VMDK, VMX, and VMFS configurations. After the migration, the new VM will point to the converted VMDK file(s).
Enables Fail-Back Contingency
vMigrator ensures that the source VM remains in place on VMFS2 during the migration process. vMigrator monitors the migration process and will detect if the newly created VM boots properly and is available within the new ESX Server 3 infrastructure. If during the upgrade process a VM fails to become available, vMigrator will automatically revert back to the source VM. Even if a migration process does not complete, the source can be powered on manually and will remain in its original location. Therefore, a restore is not necessary.
Upgrades VMware Components
vMigrator works in conjunction with the VMware upgrade process in creating a new VM. All information is retained, even when the source VM is using a VMXNET driver. All information remains unchanged—IP address scheme, multiple virtual NICs assigned per VM, and virtual switches.
